Registration is now open for the 4th annual Luang Prabang Half Marathon on October 23rd, 2016. This unique, charity-focused race features a scenic loop course which participants can enter as a 7km, 14km, or 21km (half marathon) distance through the town’s historic UNESCO heritage area, passing golden temples while winding along the Mekong River.
The race was originally conceived with the local community in mind – as runners, spectators, volunteers, and most importantly, beneficiaries of the race. In 2013, the first ever Luang Prabang Half Marathon—nicknamed “La Procession” after the procession of monks to receive alms at dawn each morning—helped generate more than USD $125,000 for non-profit Friends-International to open a new vocational training restaurant in Luang Prabang. The following two years of the race helped raise an additional $140,000 for three different local charities focusing on children’s causes.
In its 4th year, management of the race has been transferred to the Lao Friends Hospital for Children, one of the previous charity beneficiaries. Funds from the race in 2014 and 2015 helped sponsor construction costs and nearly a year’s worth of medications and staffing for the hospital’s pharmacy. Working with regional sports event management companies on course logistics and timing, the non-profit hospital will receive all revenue generated from this year’s race, helping them continue to provide free pediatric medical care to over 15,000 children per year from Luang Prabang and surrounding areas.
“After serving on the half marathon committee the past two years, we are excited to take on the event and no prescription cialis help raise funding and awareness for our work in Laos” said the hospital’s Deputy Director, Jennifer Brown. “We are collaborating with the same event partners as previous years to ensure the ‘local flavor’ of the race remains while refining some of the logistics. We have reduced entry fees to less than half the cost of last year and will refund the entry fee for any runner than independently raises USD $250 for the hospital through our Crowdfunding site.”
Tigerhead Water, Laos’ premier bottled drinking water brand, has signed on as the “Presenting Sponsor” after supporting the race at the “Gold” level in previous years. In addition to providing drinking water and 7Up Revive sport beverage for runners, they will actively promote and advertise the event through their media channels. With increased international flight access to Luang Prabang and strong early registration numbers, the organizers are expecting that 2016’s race will host 800-1,000 runners, approximately a 50/50 split of local and international participants.

CEBU HASH HOUSE HARRIES EXTEND AN
OPEN INVITATION TO HASHERS OF THE PHILIPPINES AND ELSEWHERE

Cebu Hash is close to 20 years old and is based in and around Cebu City (approximately half way up or down on the east coast of Cebu Island).
Cebu is a longish, thin island with a narrow coastal plain along each coast with a multitude of steep sided hills running south to north along its central spine. For Hashers, this means that much of the flat land is built up or fenced in. This leaves the hilly interior for most of our Runs. Unfortunately, some of these places are a tad off the beaten track – they might not require a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there but definitely need something with a high ground clearance (SUV, pickup, etc). Normally, we use our own vehicles to get to the start of our Runs. This can be problematical when we have a shit load of visitors to transport.
Cebu City itself has many upmarket(expensive) hotels and a wide variety of lower cost (but OK) places to stay at. There are also a handful of large (expensive) beach resorts scattered around the island. Unfortunately, the more economical resorts are not very large.
The 2017 Philippine Nash Hash
Despite possible transport and accommodation problems, Cebu HHH was proud to be accepted as the venue for the 2017 Philippine Nash Hash.
We have fixed the date as the 3 day weekend starting Friday May 19TH 2017 through to Sunday May 21ST.
We are working on the host of logistics matters regarding accommodation, transport, grub, beer, etc with an aim of bringing the whole thing off within a budget of between 3,500 and 5,000 Peso.
We may well have to put a cap on the numbers and we are thinking of around 200 Hashers max.
As soon as we have got further into this, we can issue a more detailed programme and will be inviting registrations. Payment will be in Peso and probably on a single price basis.

Fiji has won the right to host an international event for diehard runners from around the world and will attract an additional 4000 tourists to boost the economy and tourism.
The 21st InterHash Super Meet will be held in Nadi in May 2018 for the first time in the history of InterHash and will be a 4-6 day event.
InterHash is a biennial event and is the peak event for international running club Hash House Harriers from around the world to meet, run and socialise.
A small but dedicated team of about 22 Hash House Harriers from the 5 Hash clubs in Fiji led by Nadi doctor and Hash Grand Master Dr Ram Raju and lawyer and ex Grand Hash Master, Babu Singh, have tirelessly campaigned for the last 10 years for InterHash to be awarded to Fiji.
Minister for Investment, Trade and Tourism ,Hon Faiyaz Koya, flew into Bali to campaign with Team Fiji Hash and address the 6000 strong attendees with the support of Fiji Airways marketing representatives Mr Mitieli Vodonaivalu and spectacular and vibrant performances by Vou Dance group.
Team Fiji’s bid is a significant win against experienced and larger representation bids by previous successful InterHash hosts, Medan (Indonesia) and Kuching (Malaysia).
Fiji InterHash will be head quartered in Nadi and running events for the expected 4000 running enthusiasts will include Sabeto Mountains, Nausori Highlands, Abaca, Natadola and the Coral coast to honour the true adventure seeking spirit of the Hash House Harriers.
The Fiji Hash clubs –Nadi, Lautoka Hospital Hash, Suva and Pacific Harbour, led by Dr Ram Raju will be meeting with all stakeholders to begin planning and co-ordination of one of the largest single international sports events to be ever staged in Fiji.

The voting is in and Fiji has won. They will host Interhash 2018 in Nadi.
It has been a long road, loosing both the 2014 and the 2016 bids. But the Interhash is finally out of Asia, with Fiji beating the other bids from Indonesia and Malaysia.

All Hashers pre-Registered for the PAH Freetown 2015
SURPRISE! SURPRISE! We are still alive and even better, we have been sitting on your registration money for the PAH Freetown 2015 ever since. We should have thrown a big party after Sierra Leone was declared Ebola-free on 9th November. Let us keep our fingers crossed and be vigilant that it stays that way! Meanwhile, hashing has resumed in Freetown after restrictions on movements in the country and in the City were lifted. So you are welcome anytime to join us!
As you know the Pan Africa Hash Freetown2015 fell victim to the Ebola Pandemic in West Africa. The 2015 event was graciously taken over by the Nairobi HHH in Malindi, Kenya. Unfortunately, none of us from the Freetown HHH could participate and subsequently the PAH 2017 was given to the wankers from Lagos. Congratulations! I guess you Lagos drunkards have to come to Freetown to collect the PAH-banners we took along from Cape Coast in 2013. We will think of some sort of punishment for you for stealing the PAH 2017 from us!
We did not throw the party after all but, instead, scratched our heads for the past couple of months to decide what to do with the booze. In fact, we have a total of US$ 10,770 US-$, GBP 350, EUR 380 and SLL 5,361,705 (appx. US$ 900).
Finally, we came up with the following options:
Option 1: We keep the money safe and you can use it as registration fee for the PAH Freetown some year between 2017 and 2050. It will collect an interest of half a %/year! Good bargain!
Option 2: We refund the money to you. In that case, we will have to charge 10% for expenses already incurred for advertisement and lots of beers during our meetings. And, of course, you would have to cover the cost of the money transfer. You probably have to send more money first to cover the transfer charges. Up to you! And we have to drink more beers to bear the hassle.
Option 3: Donate your registration fee to a local charity/NGO. We have identified the following that we know are well-respected for their good work:
1. The Rainy Season Orphanage. It is run by one of the hashers and is a serious outfit
2. Street Child: A British charity working for – guess what? – street children. Three years ago they started the Makeni Marathon, which is regularly populated with FHHH.
3. Don Bosco: Another charity working with street children in Freetown.
Option 4, our favourite one and, in fact, the only sensible choice for a hasher: Donate to the “Fund for Aging Freetown Hashers”. This money would be spent on beer by Freetown Hashers above the tender age of 60 at their discretion. Guests are welcome!
We are asking that you send us an email with your choice of option. If you could do it before 2017 (or better immediately) that would be much appreciated - especially if you go for Option 3 or 4, such that we can make the donations shortly.
